Mob Con 2013

Mob-Con 2013
By Alexandra Forry
A wonderful weekend, Fantastic speakers, a well-planned event for the first time! The Cocktail party was a fun experience. Hats off to Robert George Allen and Frank Cullotta for putting together this wonderful event that will be first of many.

I've chatted with former mobsters Frank Cullotta, Andrew DiDonato, Frank Calabrese Jr., Kenji Gallo, and Tony Montana. But not everyone who I met was a former mobster, the men who tailed organized crime figures, like, Dennis Arnoldy, Dennis N. Griffin, Ronald Fino, Gary Magnesen, Warren Hull and Vito Collucci, Jr. was there as well. It’s not every day you get to see Mobsters, FBI, news reporters and true crime authors in one ballroom talking about the good old days.

Mob-Con 2013 started off with a bang, a V.I.P. cocktail party at the Mob Attraction in the Tropicana hotel, one of my favorite museums, where you get to interact and explore the history of organized crime from the early 1900’s to the end of Tony Spilotro’s rein in Las Vegas. After I toured the attraction, I mingled and rubbed shoulders with some of the speakers to be presented at mob-con. They had a great line up, each had their own story to tell about their connection to the time period.

Over all Mob-con, 2013 was a mega hit, with plans for mob-con 2014. Its wasn’t about glamorizing the mob here in Las Vegas, it was the history about how the Mafia build one of the greatest cities in America and how the FBI and others defeated it.
