My Year in review ~ 2013!

My how time flies! 2013 has been one of the best years ever! At the beginning of this year I made a new year’s resolution and goal finishing my novel, finding an agent, and get it published. I'm happy to say that I met my goal and my first novel "Omerta Affair" is out today.
The new year’s start out with a bang, as I met someone who is playing an big role, my wonderful Agent, Miss. Iris, thru e-mail buying a t-shirt, we hit it off right away and she asked me when I was done with my novel she wanted to see it. All thru January, February, March, April, and May my head was down finishing Omerta Affair. Only took time off to celebrate my birthday in the beauty of the magnificent Sedona, Arizona.
I completely finished my novel around June and I sent it off to that agent that was waiting to see it. Three weeks I've lived with excitement and nervous until one night I got an e-mail from her telling me that she liked the my book and want to meet with me. That's how I got Miss. Iris to be my agent.
It's was a very hot summer here in Las Vegas NV, over 111% each day. I took a wonderful vacation with my beloved family to the beach, escaping the heat for a few days.  On July 20 Omerta Affair was release on paperback on Amazon.com.
In September, I went to the very first Mob-Con ever, with my book. There I met some amazing and interesting people and made friends with them. I have a very wonderful time at mob-con and I am looking forward of going back to it next year. Fall came and I have two book-signing events that went well.  Selling a few books and getting my book out into the world.
This Thanksgiving I went to Charleston South Carolina! While I was there I walked the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. I went to a plantation that was still working, that was very awesome, and walked the down town main street.
As I looked back on 2013 I met a lot of people, made friends, have fun times, yes 2013 was a grand year. I'm looking forward to 2014 I see nothing but great things are going to happen.
I wish all my Facebook friends an great and wonderful holiday and an amazing new year, 2014!

An excerpt "OMERTA AFFAIR"

An excerpt of my book "OMERTA AFFAIR"

"You somehow forgot what life is all about, being with Gus all these years. Let me be the one to help you remember the good things in life.
"Tony, you sound like a guy from one of those sappy romance novels," Evelyn said, turning to him once they reached her car.
"Perhaps. I remember a woman I met long ago at a hotel bar. She had this fire in her that I loved. I watched her marry some guy and over the years the fire went out of her. I want to see that fire in her, again."

Vegas Valley Book Festival

Over the weekend I attended the Vegas Valley Book Fair. I couldn't asked for a more beautiful, sunny day for this fair in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas. I was not a vendor this year. Instead, I walked around with my wonderful agent and other authors that my agent also represent. Throughout the day, I've met a representative from Barnes and Noble,  PBS, Henderson Library, Clark County Literary Association, The Mob Museum, Books in Braille,  the Association for the Blind, and someone from a publishing house!

There was a lot of kids activities, along with poetry readings, writing classes. A Teen area that had young adult authors speaking about writing their books, and steampunk. This fair had everything for anyone.

The Fair had a special guest appearance by no other then the real Elmo from Sesame Street live on stage with Mando. I don't care how old I am, I still love seeing Elmo live on stage.

Over all,  the Vegas Valley Book Fair was VERY productive for me and my book "Omerta Affair".  If you love books and have family time with your family than the Vegas Valley Book Fair is the perfect place to go. I'm already looking forward to going back next year!

Meeting Frank Cullotta

For my 22nd Birthday, I've decided to go to the newly opened Mob  Museum. Little did I know, I was about to meet someone who played a big role of helping me with "Omerta Affair" and this is the story.

A few day's before I went to the Mob Museum, I went on the museum's website to see if some event was going to take place, while I was there I found out that Frank Cullotta would be there signing his book "Cullotta" during the same time as I was going to be there. Now at the time, I didn't know who he was until I Wikipedia his name and found out that the character Frank Marino from one of my favorite movies, Casino, was based on Frank Cullotta. I got excited! I always though it would be very cool to meet a real-life ex-mobster.

When my party arrived at the museum, a family member of mine, told the parking attendant that it was my Birthday. The parking attendant wish me, a Happy Birthday and he let us in to park. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the parking attendant got on his walkie talkie. After we parked the car, the parking attendant approached me and told me to go right in the gift shop because, Frank Cullotta was waiting for me to wish me a Happy Birthday. I couldn't believe my luck or this parking attendant was full of it. To this day, I still don't know.

So we went in, waiting for some friends to show up while we got our tickets.  In the gift shop entryway, there was a sign out saying that Frank Cullotta was there signing his book. A friend of mine took a picture of me by the sign.

When we went in, That was when I first saw Frank, sitting there signing his books and taking pictures. There was a long line to meet him. So we decided to look around the shop until the line went down. After a bit there was no line, so I walked up and stood behind that person whom was having their copy of Frank's book sign by him. After that person was done I thought I was next to meet Frank, as I started to walk up to him, but it had turned out that the man next to me was there before me and was next. That was kind of embarrassing. I let him go ahead and waited  my turn.

When I finally walked up to meet Frank. He stood up and shook my hand. Then Frank asked me if I wanted a picture with him, and I said "Sure" so we took one, but some reason it didn't turn out, then we took another one and to my surprise Frank hugged me as the picture was being taken. After that, Frank and I started to talk while the picture was printing. I told him that I'm a writer working on my first book about the Mafia. He was interested he then gave me the photo of us for free since it was my birthday and signed it for me. Afterwards we wished each other good-bye, and I went into the museum with my party. Little did I know, I will be seeing him again.
A few weeks later, I went to a book store and bought Frank's book "Cullotta" and I read it. After I've finished the book, I thought what if he was on Facebook. So I found his Facebook fan page and got up the courage to message him telling him whom I was, and that I've enjoyed his book and meeting him.

A couple of days later, he replied to my message, and that is how our friendship began and through Frank, I met and made a lot of great friends. Thank's to Frank's help "Omerta Affair" was born and turn into a book.
